There were 16 artists nominated for induction into the Rock Hall in Cleveland, Ohio. This year’s nominees include:
- The Paul Butterfield Blues Band
- Chic
- Deep Purple
- Peter Gabriel
- Hall and Oates
- KISS
- LL Cool J
- The Meters
- Nirvana
- N.W.A.
- The Replacements
- Linda Ronstadt
- Cat Stevens
- Link Wray
- Yes
- The Zombies
Inductees are chosen by secret ballot of voters consisting of past inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, musicians, historians, critics and members of the music industry.
To be eligible, an individual artist or band must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. As such, 2014 Nominees released their first record no later than 1988.
What do you think of this year’s list? There are 5… count them… 5 of our Rock Snubs Bands on this list (bolded above)! However, at least in my book, the Hall has once again missed the mark BIG TIME with a few on this list.
LL Cool J?
N.W.A.?
Great musical acts to be sure, but DEFINITELY not worth of being in a Hall of Fame with the name “Rock & Roll” on the sign. However, N.W.A. was nominated last year and Public Enemy got in so at least they’re being “consistent”.
What do you think – good list this year?
