And the 2016 Rock Hall Nominees Are…

Earlier today, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the 2016 nominees for entry into the Hall. The nominees are:

  • 2016 Rock Hall NomineesThe Cars
  • Chic
  • Chicago
  • Cheap Trick
  • Deep Purple
  • Janet Jackson
  • The J.B.’s
  • Chaka Khan
  • Los Lobos
  • Steve Miller
  • Nine Inch Nails
  • N.W.A.
  • The Smiths
  • The Spinners
  • Yes

With the inclusion of Deep Purple, The Smiths, Cheap Trick, Los Lobos, Yes and Chicago there are six of our snubbed bands on this year’s list. That’s the most snubs nominated since this site was created (in my recollection). You can go here to vote for the TOP FIVE nominees you think should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! The fan votes will comprise a fans’ ballot that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2016 inductees to be announced in December!

There are still some MASSIVE snubs, but perhaps our voices are finally being heard?

  1. How Can the band America never be nominated. 45 years and still touring the world

  2. This list does have some of the “snubs” and that’s a real good thing. But still no MOODY BLUES, the gold standard of rock fan snub disgust.

What the Rock Hall has done is re-write the history of Rock, so it doesn’t convey the essence of Rock from its birth until the late 60s (or so). The only way the mess can be cleaned up is to start over.

If that isn’t done soon, those of us who grew up with early Rock won’t be around to preserve a real history and tradition of Rock. How insane is that?

Here’s how bad it is: At this past June’s annual members meeting, one talk was about the inductees. They showed us “artifacts” (clothes and harmonicas and stuff) and didn’t play ONE NOTE of music!!

    Grrrr……

  3. I repeat (yet again) WHERE is Peter Frampton? What does the poor guy have to do?
