The Rock Hall FINALLY got their act together and in a surprising move put KISS in with the class of 2014! Congrats to all the members of KISS and their fans on this LONG overdue honor.
In addition to KISS, long standing member of the Rock Snubs list was Peter Gabriel. Congrats Peter!
And even though there’s GOOD news, there is still some simply baffling news as well.
Despite being 3rd in the fans voter poll for the 2014 inductees, DEEP PURPLE is STILL being snubbed.
They’ve been bumped up to #1 on our list. We’ve also added YES and Chicago.
Deep Purple
Every kid who picks up a guitar learns the opening riff to “Smoke on the Water.” But there’s a lot more to these hard-rocking Brits than that. One of the great guitar-rock bands of all time. They are the biggest influential band of hard rock in the world AND one of the cornerstones of Heavy MetalYES
Highly regarded as one of the archetypal bands and pioneers of the progressive genre, and have survived multiple trends within popular music. Previously considered in 2001 they were snubbed and never nominated againChicago
Are you kidding me? They aren’t in yet? The leading US singles charting group during the 1970s and have sold over 38 million units in the US. Even Little Nicky thinks they are cool.
Check out all of the snubs on The Bands page now and don’t forget to sign the petition!
Rounding out the 2014 Rock Hall class are Hall and Oates, Nirvana, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens. Bios of all the honorees can be found here.
The 29th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The ceremony will be open to the public, as it has been for the Induction Ceremonies in Cleveland (in 2009 and 2012) and Los Angeles (2013). The Rock Hall said this is the first time a ceremony in New York will be open to the public.
